For nearly 50 years the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has provided groundbreaking leadership in research, education, and public outreach programs related to health, wellness, and enhancing the quality of life. Building upon its leadership in these areas, the Center on Health, Aging & Disability is dedicated to the interdisciplinary studies of science that will impact the lives of individuals, families, and communities by promoting health, self-sufficiency, economic independence, and quality of life across the lifespan.
Mission:
The Center on Health, Aging, and Disability provides leadership in interdisciplinary research, educational, and outreach efforts that promote health and wellness; healthy aging across the lifespan; healthy communities; and optimal participation of individuals with disabilities. The Center serves as a catalyst around which discoveries are made, critical societal issues are addressed, and exemplary educational and outreach opportunities are provided.
Khans' First Professorship: McAuley
Alumni Shahid and Ann Carlson Khan donated $2.5 million to the Center on Health, Aging, and Disability to fund five professorships. Professor Edward McAuley, a leading scholar in kinesiology, will become the first. The investiture ceremony will take place on October 5, 2007.
